In Memory

David Newman

John Roy "David" Newman of Plano, Texas, passed away at 3:29 on the morning of February 3, 2019, at the age of 56. He was born February 27, 1962, to John James and Virginia Goodner Newman in Fort Smith, Arkansas. David grew up in Fort Smith where he graduated from Northside High School in 1980. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the Beta Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. David has remained lifelong friends with his fraternity brothers and has been involved as an alumnus of the chapter for many years since his graduation. He married Teresa Niebruegge on December 1st, 1989, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. He has worked in real estate for more than 20 years, and he recently started his own business, Newman Commercial Real Estate. He enjoyed golfing, cycling, watching OU beat Texas, entertaining his friends with his quick wit and infinite supply of stories, and most of all spending time with his wife and four children. David loved big. He was tough, but he had the softest heart. The first time he kissed his wife Teresa, he gave her a rose and told her they would watch their love unfold like the bloom of that rose, and that they one day would get married. If you knew David, you will agree that these few paragraphs can’t even begin to sum up his big personality. Best said by his uncle Bob, David was "an outstanding young man, as witnessed by hundreds, and I mean hundreds of people who called him friend, brother, Bubby, loud OU fan, humorist, got your 6 buddy, dedicated Brother in Sigma Phi Epsilon, life of the party, cousin, nephew, husband, brother in law, and a very special Dad."

David is survived by his wife, Teresa Newman; children, Peyton Juliano and husband, Michael of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sullivan Newman, Jonathan Newman, and Addison Newman of Plano, Texas; sister, Kelly Lord and husband, Mark of Houston, Texas; several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and numerous other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Newman.

The family requests donations to be made to the Biagini Foundation. The Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization and 100% of the funds will be used to help David’s family with his medical expenses, educational expenses for his children, and any financial shortfalls due to his illness and loss.
